A couple has all their wedding gifts stolen and a community rallies behind a local woman being terrorised by rock-throwing. These are just two of the stories making headlines around the regions today.

Henry Beattie and Tina Cachemaille-Beattie should have been celebrating their first day as a married couple but instead were "gutted" to find the window to their car smashed and all their wedding gifts taken.

A community has rallied to support an elderly resident living as a "prisoner in her own home". Close to a dozen neighbours and locals turned up for a community barbecue outside her home to discuss how to stop those throwing large rocks at her home.

Three people had to be rescued by Maketu Coastguard after an inflatable boat flipped as it was coming in across the Pukehina bar yesterday.

Residents in the surrounding area of the Lumbercube mill enjoyed peace and quiet over the weekend of Easter. The mill, which has been at the centre of hundreds of noise complaints, was shut down from Thursday night until this morning.
