Person drowns in bath in Christchurch home

Police say they police are investigating the death at the Spreydon property.

Police say there were no life threatening injuries to a 51-year-old woman who was found dead in a bath in Christchurch yesterday.

There were also no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

An ambulance was called to a house on Gleig Pl in Spreydon just before 9am yesterday, but soon requested police assistance.

Two occupants of the house were being spoken to by police and a scene examination has started.

In a statement today police said a post mortem had been completed and the cause of her death remains unknown.

"A definitive cause of death cannot be established at this time, however the results of toxicology testing and the full post mortem results are some weeks away."

The address will be released back to next of kin later today.
