A 13-year-old girl was rescued from the water off Auckland's coast today.
Coastguard, Auckland Westpac Rescue, the police Eagle helicopter and St John ambulance were all involved.
The girl was reported as being in trouble about 300m off the shore of Maraetai about 12.50pm.
Coastguard Operations Manager Ray Burge said the girl, who was initially reported to them as a 20-year-old woman, was picked up by one of its crews about 1.15pm.
The police eagle helicopter was also sent to the scene.
Police spokeswoman Tracie Simpson said the girl was 13-years-old.
Mr Burge said the girl was in the care of St John ambulance staff by 1.30pm.
She had reportedly "taken on some water" and was given first aid, including oxygen, by those first on the scene.
Auckland Westpac Rescue was also called to the incident, but was stood down before the crew arrived at the scene.
