The Herald and World Vision's Forgotten Millions campaign won an award at the TVNZ New Zealand Marketing Awards last night.
NewstalkZB Early Edition host Rachel Smalley travelled to refugee camps in Lebanon and Iraqi-Kurdistan and over a period of three weeks reported for the Herald on the human side of the Syrian conflict.
The campaign won the not-for-profit category in a ceremony hosted by comedian Te Radar at The Langham hotel in central Auckland last night.
"For me, this award acknowledges the bravery of the Syrians and Iraqis who spoke to me," Smalley said.
"Millions fled the conflict with only the clothes on their backs. Millions don't know where their next meal is coming from.
