Police may have uncovered a lingerie thief in Christchurch after a search warrant turned up a large amount of women's underwear matching the description of recently stolen items.
The warrant was excuted this morning as part of an ongoing investigation into reports of women's lingerie and underwear being stolen from washing lines and inside homes at three properties in the eastern suburb of Burwood.
Detective Sergeant Ross Tarawhiti said the thefts from three residential properties in Achilles St were reported to police last month.
"Some of the stolen items appear to have been taken from the victims washing lines while, worryingly, other items are reported to have gone missing from inside their property," he said.
"Investigations into the reports led to a search warrant being executed this morning at a property in the area. A quantity of lingerie/underwear was seized but only some of the items appear to match the description of those reported stolen.
