A tourist was airlifted to hospital after falling onto rocks in a national park today.
The German woman tripped and fell near Red Hills in Nelson Lakes National Park.
The Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter airlifted her this afternoon. The helicopter intensive care paramedic assessed the woman, who had lacerations to her face, arms and leg.
She and a companion were then airlifted. The injured woman was admitted to Nelson Hospital.
Earlier today, the Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter was sent to the same national park when an American worker helping the Department of Conservation was injured.
"The man aged in his 20's was helping clear an area with a chain saw when fragments blew into his eye," the rescue helicopter trust said. "He was treated on scene and flown to Nelson Hospital for assessment."
