New Zealand is in for a mixed-bag of weather this weekend, MetService says.
MetService meteorologist John Law said New Zealanders should expect both rain and shine over the next few days.
"Weather systems are set to dumbbell around each other this weekend," he said. "This means that we should all get to enjoy some sunnier spells as well as some showers."
For North Islanders planning their weekends, Saturday is expected to be the driest day. Sunday will be patchy.
Meanwhile, an approaching front will bring rain to the South Island's West Coast.
South Islanders can, however, look forward to temperatures getting back to normal for this time of year after a frosty start to summer. A heavy rain warning is in place for Fiordland and Westland starting Saturday afternoon.
