A friend of Jesus had an electric moment on an Auckland bus this afternoon, but that couldn't stop him taking the stage to spread the good word.
Kyle Chuen, who plays Jesus's disciple Peter in the Auckland Theatre Company's production of Jesus Christ Superstar, was travelling on a Birkenhead Transportbus into the city when the bus collided with a power pole, with its wires landing on the bus roof.
Chuen was unhurt but was stuck on board the bus for about 40 minutes, until an electricity crew was able to remove the wires.
The incident happened about 3pm today on Rangitira Rd in Beach Haven, on Auckland's North Shore.
But the actor was still able to make it to the Q Theatre on Queen St on time for make up before tonight's 6.30pm show - possibly with the help of the show's namesake, theatre company spokesman Michael Adam said this afternoon.
