The crane that toppled and smashed through a house on Auckland's North Shore on Friday was removed yesterday.
Two larger cranes were used to lift it from the house on Bluebird Cres in Unsworth Heights.
On Friday afternoon the crane was moving a 12-tonne boat from a trailer into the backyard of a house for refurbishment when the crane toppled and fell on a house behind - slicing through the centre of the home and narrowly missing Eugene Lim in his bedroom. He later had to be rescued by ladder.
The crane driver leapt from his cab as the crane started to flip over. He received a minor leg injury and was taken to hospital.
It is thought the boat may have been heavier than was reported to Waikato Crane Services, and that a gust of wind caught the boat and toppled the crane.
