Social media star Jamie Curry has had to put her videos on hold as she prepares for her exams.

The 17-year-old Hawkes Bay teenager - known for the funny clips on her site, Jamie's World - sits her first NCEA examination today, in Year 12 English.

"I'm ready, actually. I've passed already, so I'm not too stressed. The teachers have said I've passed, so I'm gonna go with that," she said with a laugh. "But I'm still studying and trying to get the best I can do. I'm not stressing about it."

She usually posts a video every two or three days but the activity on her site has been static because of studying.

"I posted a video two nights ago and the one before that - I hadn't done one for about a week. I had a couple of angry messages asking: 'Where's the video?!'

"Most of them are from overseas so they don't have exams and I've had to go: 'Sorry, I've got exams!' They think I'm being lazy but then they understand."

Singer Lorde, 17, is also understood to be sitting Level 2 exams. Golf star Lydia Ko is also hitting the books.
