An alleged clandestine drug lab in a picturesque region at the top of the South Island has been raided by police.
No one was home when police smashed what they believe was a laboratory used for the manufacture of illegal drugs at a property in the Pelorus area yesterday.
Officers used powers under the Search and Surveillance Act about noon.
A scene guard was in place overnight and the Police National Clandestine Laboratory Team and ESR scientists have arrived this morning and are analysing the scene.
No arrests have been made, but police say: "Parties involved are known to police and inquiries into their whereabouts are being conducted."
