Police have named the Tauranga woman who was killed when a logging truck and a car collided in Bay of Plenty yesterday.

Lisa Maree Boston, 42, died in the crash at the intersection of Ruahihi Rd and State Highway 29 in the Lower Kaimais, southwest of Tauranga, about 8.20am.

Ms Boston, the sole occupant and driver of the car, had been making a right-hand turn into the side road when her car came into the path of the unladen truck.

The driver's side of the car was smashed and the car was facing in the opposite direction by a farm fence.

Senior Sergeant Ian Campion said inquiries were continuing today and serious crash unit investigators were completing a scene survey and analysis.

He thanked members of the public who stopped to help at the scene.

The road was closed and diversions put in place yesterday morning after the crash.
