Men in forestry death, tramping accident named

The two men killed in separate incidents in the Bay of Plenty have been named by police.

Whakatane man Eramyha Eruera Pairama, 19, was killed when he was struck by a tree during forestry work in Sisam Valley Rd in Taneatua on Friday afternoon.

Russell Clarke Brown, 75, from Tauranga, died after falling about 20m and hitting his head while tramping near Opotiki on Saturday.

He was one of a group of 11 trampers who left on a day tramp to the Waioeka Gorge.

Both accidents have been referred to the coroner.
