A 5-year-old girl is in a serious condition after suffering concussion and cuts when she fell from a moving vehicle on a Central Hawkes Bay farm last night.

The girl was sitting on the back of a ute in Porangahau when it hit a bump, causing her to fall off about 8pm, said a Lowe Corporation Rescue Helicopter spokeswoman.

She was flown to Hawkes Bay Regional Hospital for treatment, and was accompanied by her father.

The girl is in a serious but stable condition, said a hospital spokeswoman.
