Police are continuing to conduct tests to determine how a nine-year-old boy died at his home at Raetihi, north of Wanganui, yesterday.

The boy was found dead by a family member just before 6am and a post-mortem examination was completed last night.

Detective Senior Sergeant Keith Borrell said further tests were being carried out to determine the cause of death.

"Once all the test results are back we will have a clearer picture of how the boy died. We are still making inquiries and have a number of people including family members to speak to."

A scene examination was also still in progress.

Anyone with information was urged to contact Ohakune police on (06) 385 0100 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
