Two youths who had been charged with assaulting Polish man Roman Skorek have had the charges upgraded to murder.
Charges of assault against the 14-year-old and 15-year-old were withdrawn when they appeared in Rotorua Youth Court today.
The pair, who cannot be named, are jointly charged with Simon Meka Herewini, 20, and Rawiri James Samuel, 21, who appeared in the Rotorua District Court last week.
The four are charged with murdering Mr Skorek, 64, on January 23.
He was found dead in Kuirau Park.
Judge Marie McKenzie remanded the two youths in the custody of Child Youth and Family to appear again in the Rotorua Youth Court on March 6.
Herewini and Samuel will also appear in court that day.
