The small Bay of Plenty seaside community of Omokoroa has been rocked by two deaths in 12 hours.

Early this morning, emergency services were called to the discovery of a woman's body at a popular walkway track between The Esplanade and Beach Grove.

The woman's death follows soon after another tragedy where a man is believed to have drowned.

The man, thought to be in his late 60s, was found dead in Omokoroa Harbour yesterday afternoon and is believed to have drowned after becoming separated from his dingy.

Police said it was too early to determine if the woman's death was suspicious or not.
