Earthquakes have rolled through the Hawke's Bay overnight.
A magnitude 5 quake struck before 9pm, followed by a 4.2 just over an hour later.
Both were centred south-east of Porangahau at a depth of between 12 and 20 kilometres.
The quakes were felt widely around southern Hawke's Bay but no damage has been reported.
Meanwhile, a couple of minor tremors rattled through Christchurch's Governor's Bay around the same time.
