The Green Party has chosen former staffer Richard Leckinger to stand in next month's Botany by-election.
"The important issues for Botany are core Green Party issues. Keeping our assets in Kiwi ownership, better transport and open, honest government are key concerns we all share," Mr Leckinger said.
He recently returned to Auckland after four years in Wellington working as both a ministerial advisor and researcher at Parliament.
He has worked for Medecins Sans Frontires, managing aid projects in war torn areas of Somalia and Burma. He has a MSc in Renewable Energy and has managed and owned building automation companies both here and abroad.
The by-election will be held on March 5.
