Christchurch police searched a strip club yesterday in relation to a suspected vicious assault that left an 18-year-old in a critical condition.
A caretaker found the man lying in Gloucester Street near Chancery Arcade, about 7am last Friday.
He was admitted to Christchurch Hospital's intensive care unit in a critical condition.
Detective Senior Sergeant David Harvey of Christchurch police told NZPA police conducted a scene examination of the strip club because the man was found near the premises.
The victim had been now been moved out of ICU to a general ward where he remained in a stable, but serious condition.
He was still not well enough to be interviewed by police.
