A Northland kura has been in Wellington visiting the exhibition they supported by creating the first te reo Maori iTunes resources.
Te Kura Kaupapa Maori o Whangaroa, a full immersion Maori school in Matauri Bay, created five learning resources - which include iBooks, videos and interactive activities - to support He Tohu, an exhibition at the National Library of New Zealand of the country's key constitutional documents, including He Whakaputanga (Declaration of Independence), Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and the Women's Suffrage Petition.
Yesterdaythe school was able to visit the exhibition in Wellington thanks to the Te Puna Foundation Travel Fund for Schools which is designed to ensure children from across the country experience the exhibition.
Air New Zealand is also donating 20,000 Airpoints Dollars to support this new travel fund for schools. The Government is matching donations to Te Puna Foundation, the library's fundraising body, dollar for dollar up to a total of $2m.
Pupils from Rawhiti School in Christchurch also visited the National Library yesterday through the Te Puna fund.
