Thieves armed with a weapon have targeted yet another Whangarei business and taken cash and cigarettes.
Police were yesterday interviewing the two shop workers at LiquorLand in Otaika, who were left shaken by the robbery at 7.49pm on Monday.
Just nine days earlier the adjoining business Four Square was robbed of tobacco products and cash after three men allegedly threatened staff. Maunu Four Square was robbed of cigarettes on March 5, while 1.2km away the owner of Maunu Superette chased an empty-handed robber who brandished what he believed to be a pellet gun on March 20.
The four robberies have happened in just over three weeks in Whangarei.
In the latest incident Detective Senior Sergeant John Miller said two men went into the business through the front doors and it is believed a firearm was presented before cash and cigarettes were handed over.
