Don't panic if you see teams of firefighters descending on Kamo park tomorrow. There is no emergency but instead some of the country's best volunteers fighting for the top spots at the United Fire Brigade Association's (UFBA) national waterways challenge.
Teams from around New Zealand have entered two- and four-person teams who will demonstrate their hose-carrying skills and race against the clock to win medals and trophies.
The competition is an opportunity for firefighters to put their hose-running and pump-operating skills to the test in a fun and competitive environment and it is the first time it has been held north of Auckland.
The host brigade is Kamo with teams from Ruakaka, Ruawai and Waipu brigades representing the best in Northland and there are teams from as far away as Christchurch and Hokitika.
A crew from Waiheke Island will also roll out and try and claim some of the titles.
