A dramatic rescue at sea features in a new children's book based on Northland's own rescue helicopter nicknamed Juliet.
Illustrated by Auckland artist Tony McNeight, the book features the Northland Rescue Helicopter's choppers in an adventure tale that follows Jack, Poppy and Tama as they go in search of the Northland landmark the Hole in the Rock.
The ambitious trio, along with their dog Monty, strike some bad luck when the weather turns nasty and destroys their home-made raft.
But Juliet is on hand for the rescue. Students at Whangarei Primary School were some of the first to hear the book at an official launch this week.
NRH general manager Vanessa Furze said the service relied heavily on donations and the book was a fun fundraising idea but also a way of bringing its helicopters to life.
