While the youth of New Zealand will be eagerly anticipating opening their presents on Christmas morning, a young boy from overseas is reminding us of the true meaning of the festive season.
Nate Dreyfuss, 9, from Minnesota in the United States, was inspired to do more this Christmas after witnessing a random act of kindness.
"There was this man," Nate told the local CBS news channel. "He got out of his car, took off his jacket, and gave it to a man on the street."
The sight left an impression on the boy, who said he "felt really good inside" after witnessing it.
He then organised a coat drive around his neighbourhood of Stillwater and put out donation boxes whilst his mother sent out a notice via email. Local organisations caught wind of the initiative to help the homeless and also urged people to donate, the St Paul Area Council of Churches reported on its website.
