Farmers in Eastern Bay of Plenty and Dannevirke had made offers to get stock feed north. The trust would coordinate offers and calls for help.
Orchard manager David Alderton said about 70 trees had been blown over and up to 25 per cent of the crop had been lost on the Mangakahia Rd property.
He helped plant the trees 11 years ago and seeing hundreds of fruit on the ground was devastating. The wind had stripped out the top of the trees, which would have an effect on next year's crop as well. "To get a tree up and producing again will take 6 or 7 years. This is a bloody disaster."
Mr Guy said the majority of farmers and growers were coping reasonably well. He told about 20 farmers gathered at Ben Smith's Hikurangi Swamp farm that farmers should not be afraid to reach out for help from the trust or neighbours.
Some farmers in the area were threatening to cut into the Hikurangi stock bank to speed up drainage because of effects downstream.
Mr Guy expected to receive regular updates from MPI and other departments on any further requests for government assistance, which could include helping with the clean-up, tax flexibility arrangements or financial hardship assistance.
Federated Farmers Northland provincial president Roger Ludbrook hoped the Government recognised the hammering the roads had taken and support the district councils.
"Since New Zealand benefits from what the roads we fund carry, it would be unfair to make ratepayers pay for the entire repair," Mr Ludbrook said.
Meanwhile, late yesterday evening, agri business Ravensdown announced it would donate $20,000 to Northland communities and would be discounting products for Northland customers to aid rural recovery.
