Whangarovians have been flooding into the Fat Camel to find out what the fuss is about after barista Idan Ben Ze'ev won the Altura Northland Barista Championship.
Mr Ben Ze'ev opened Fat Camel cafe just two and a half years ago after arriving in New Zealand but has quickly gained a reputation as a top-notch barista - or coffee maker.
Winning the regional competition was high on his list of priorities this year after he came third in the competition last year.
Mr Ben Ze'ev said he made sure he engaged judges.
"Most people who come in already know what they want," said Mr Ben Ze'ev. "New Zealanders have a great appreciation for good coffee."
