The Labour Party and Prime Minister Helen Clark continue to soar in popularity to record levels. In a poll issued last night, Helen Clark recorded 42 per cent support as preferred Prime Minister.
In the TV3 CM Research poll of 1000 voters, Labour is on 53 per cent support for the party vote, up from 51 per cent in the last poll in February. National has dropped two points to 28 per cent.
Labour junior coalition partner the Alliance continues to miss the honeymoon, slipping to 3 per cent support from 5 per cent.
Helen Clark's preferred PM rating is up from 36 per cent in February and is the highest rating since 1993 polls. National leader Jenny Shipley registered 13 per cent.
A second opinion poll released last night, the One News-Colmar Brunton poll, showed Labour down two percentage points to 50 per cent support and National up two points to 32 per cent.
