One of Australia's longest-standing and most prestigious design awards - the Australian International Design Award - has announced the Citroen DS3 and Citroen DS5 as finalists for 2013.

Contending in the automotive and transport design category, both DS cars were clear finalists thanks to their design, style and sophistication.

The Citroen DS3 is an assertive vehicle that customers can personalise with a broad range of styling components. The dynamic on-road performance blends efficiency and sportiness, while the intelligence of its design makes for a modular car that adapts to all situations.

The Citroen DS5 hatchback, the flagship of Citroen's premium DS range, is a sophisticated large car with intelligent design that transcends the usual compromises between driving pleasure and shared well-being. With a cabin style inspired by the world of aviation, the DS5 is a car that offers good looks as well as easy handling.

The Australian International Design Award jury consists of leading design experts in the fields of industrial design, engineering, architecture, software and electronics design, service design, design strategy and communications design.

Behind closed doors, the jury closely inspects each and every entry and evaluates them according to the assessment criteria. Each jury member is selected based on their area of expertise and their ability to bring an individual perspective to the evaluation process.

The overall winners in all categories will be announced at the 2013 Australian International Design Awards presentation ceremony on May 30 in Sydney.

The Citroen DS3 retails in New Zealand from $29,990, while the DS5 is priced at $59,990 for the six-speed auto.
