A 17-year-old British teenager who dumped her boyfriend for a man older than her own father has opened up about her sex life two years later.
Avalon Garvey, now 19, from Bradford, West Yorkshire, was in sixth form when she met Doug Traser, 44.
After the pair started chatting on an online messaging website, they instantly hit it off and decided they wanted to meet up, the Daily Mail reports.
Garvey admitted that Traser was instantly honest about his age, before also telling her about his wife and kids - and the fact he was in San Francisco, more than 13,500km away. But after a few months the pair were on such good terms he decided to fly to Leeds to meet her.
"I knew I loved him as soon as I saw him," Garvey told the Sun - adding that the couple first had sex on that trip. "I was 17. Sixteen was the age you could legally have sex, so it was completely legal," she said.
She added: "When we are together it is extravagant, it is good. He knows what he is doing, I am happy."
According to Garvey, she had been seeing another 17-year-old at the time, but decided to break off the relationship because she didn't see it going any further saying: "It was going down a rocky path. It was very difficult to tell them I wasn't seeing them anymore."
She and Traser now see each other every month, alternating trips between Leeds and San Francisco.
Two years on and now a first-year student at the University of York, Garvey has even taken Traser on a night out with her university friends. "It wasn't awkward at all," she said.
But he has, on occasion, been mistaken for her dad.
"There was one time, we were in California, and I was giving a waitress a tip. She said 'is that your dad?' But I don't care what people think. It's my relationship, it is not a random person's relationship.
"I get stares and I will rub it in their face and give him a cuddle. I am happy, so why does it matter what anyone else thinks?"
