Meatstock is expanding to include an Auckland event in 2017.

A meaty festival that combines barbeques and bands is coming to New Zealand just a year after its successful debut in Sydney.

Meatstock is a two-day event being held at ASB Showgrounds in Auckland on February 25 and 26, a spinoff from a festival that sold more than 10,000 tickets when it debuted in Sydney earlier this year.

"We can't wait to spread our barbecue wings over the pond to New Zealand," says Meatstock co-director Simon Luke.

"New Zealand is well know for it's amazing food and wine, but we think low and slow barbecue is something very new and exciting that kiwis will love," he says.

The festival combines bands and barbeques, as well an event called the "Barbeque, Butcher and Barber Wars".

Butchery demonstrations and workshops with also be available.

Barbeque-inspired food trucks will cater, craft beer will be available, and live Blues and Country music will entertain.

"Punters can enjoy their favourite cuts of meat along with a side serving of great music. There'll be plenty to digest," says founder Jay Beaumont.

Meatstock's 2017 run kicks off in Auckland, before heading to Melbourne in April and Sydney in May.

Tickets cost $35 for a one-day pass, or $55 for a two-day super pass.
