Four of the best: Frozen treats

1. Valentino's Gelato
If you're not won over by the location on the water's edge by the downtown ferry building, you will be by the gelato. Choose from the vast gelato menu (jam donut, lemon curd and yoghurt, tiramisu and coconut ice to name a few) then take a seat at the outside tables and enjoy. There are low-fat alternatives too.

2. White's & Co

This is premium frozen yoghurt like no other. You can have it in parfaits with fruit and granola, in smoothies or in a tub.

The yoghurt comes in a variety of flavours - vanilla, chocolate, mango, berry, salted caramel and lemon cheesecake - and you can choose from a range of toppings, from the healthy (fresh fruit, nuts, curds and compotes) to the seriously indulgent (handmade lollies, meringue and fudge). Divine.

3. The Dairy

There are many foodie spots to love at Ponsonby Central. One of our favourites is The Dairy, which serves heavenly icecream sandwiches. Thick slabs of Kapiti icecream are sandwiched between freshly baked cookies. So good. And don't stop there: they also serve icecream in a cone topped with candy floss.

4. Movenpick

Movenpick is Switzerland's premium icecream and we can see why. Fresh ingredients
and natural flavours make this a Kiwi favourite and with five Auckland stores as well as more in Wellington and Queenstown, it's easy to get your fix. We love the vanilla brownie, creme brulee and mint chocolate.
