Makes 25-30 biscuits
¹/3 cup sugar
¼ cup milk
1 ¼ cups flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup bran
1 Preheat oven to 180C. Position oven rack in middle of oven.
2 Lightly grease oven tray.
3 Soften butter, add sugar and beat with a wooden spoon until well mixed.
4 Stir in the milk.
5 Mix the flour, baking powder and bran in a bowl.
6 Stir in the liquid and mix to make a soft dough.
7 Flour a board or other hard surface.
8 Take portions of dough, cover with clingfilm and roll out to about half a centimetre thick. Remove clingfilm.
9 Cut into squares or oblongs and lift onto prepared tray leaving a half centimetre gap between them.
10 Bake at 180ºC for about 20 minutes or until slightly golden.
11 Cool on a wire rack, then store in an airtight container. Serve plain or buttered.
