Hawke's Bay's sole national tennis representative, Finn Reynolds, travels to Auckland on Friday to take part in a three-day national camp for the code's junior high achievers.
The invitation-only camp is being held at the Millennium Institute of Sport and Health, in Albany and Hawke's Bay Lawn's Reynolds is the country's No.1 under-12 boy. The camp is part of a Tennis New Zealand initiative to improve pathways for the code's most promising players from under-18 level down.
Reynolds is the country's No1 under-12 boy.
Reynolds age group is overseen by former New Zealand Davis Cup team captain James Greenhalgh. An online training diary and fitness programme to complement training by Reynolds' Hawke's Bay regional coach Simon Winter is part of the overall plan which includes monthly contact from Auckland-based Greenhalgh and the TNZ high performance department.
This weekend's camp will cover fitness, sports science and seminars with all age group co-ordinator coaches and TNZ national coach Marcel Vos.
