Hawke's Bay Power Consumers' Trust candidate profile - Peter Dunkerley

I have had a successful career in pharmacy for more than 35 years.

During that time, apart from managing my own businesses, I was chairman of Amcal and Radius Pharmacy and pioneered many innovations in the pharmacy profession.

I have managed and directed many companies and trusts of different sizes, through the good times and the, inevitable, difficult times, that business cycles bring. My experience is wide and varied.

Now, in retirement I have been a member of the HBDHB and have been since its inception. I take a particular interest in Maori and Pacific health.

I am proud to have been part of the development of the Pekapeka Wetlands; I am now chairman of the Rescue Helicopter Trust and the Knowledge Bank at Stoneycroft.

Giving back to the community is important to me. Listening is vital.

It is teams of people that achieve great ideals and the Power Trust presents an opportunity to build on the exciting development of Hawke's Bay at this time. Unison has an outstanding chief executive and he has built a very capable team. It is important the Power Board trustees work with this team to complement them and challenge them to further successes.

I have been approached to stand at previous elections, now is the right time and there is the opportunity to make further gains for the Unison group of companies. A more successful Unison will mean better returns for individuals and the community of Hawke's Bay.

Voting for me you can be sure of a broad vision, sound management and governance experience, and a visionary future for the Power Trust.

The yearly rebate cheque is important to our community; it is the quality of the achievements of Unison management that will ensure future payments.

I am standing to be part of a better team.
