MP for Tukituki Lawrence Yule believes Transport Minister Phil Twyford has thrown the future of the proposed four-lane Napier-Hastings Expressway "into turmoil."

Mr Yule expressed concern, noting that "a growing number of vital roading projects right around the country are facing the axe, with Mr Twyford failing to commit to them under questioning in Parliament this week."
He said "National had committed to the project as part of the next generation of Roads of National Significance but the new Government obviously doesn't see it the same way."
"The Hawkes Bay Economy is booming and the four-laning of the Expressway between Napier and Hastings is a key part of that success.
