National's Alastair Scott has won in Wairarapa with 100 per cent of votes counted.
Bottles of bubbly were being opened in celebration of Scott's success, albeit by a lesser margin.
"I knew I would win by a lesser margin, as the competition was strong and I was up against good candidates. I expect to see both Kieran and Ron in parliament with me."
"It was a great effort by the people of Wairarapa for supporting a National government as they have in the past. Thank you for your votes and support."
His opponent, Kieran McAnulty, was taking a positive outlook before the final count.
