Mrs Mohi said because of this development she now hoped to open the branch in the new year.
"We're trying to get all the ducks in a row."
As with the Auckland space, this centre would start off small and build its way up, she said.
While there were already several organisations offering music therapy in the region they were fully booked with demand exceeding supply and the centre would complement them.
"We have identified a significant demand because Hawke's Bay is a large area."
She had spoken to several music therapists in the region and also a recent graduate in Wellington who is from Hawke's Bay and has also been looking for a site.
"We've already had lots of offers of music therapy spaces."
The development of a satellite branch of RMTC in Hawke's Bay is exciting on a few different levels, Mrs Mohi said.
Firstly because of how valuable it is in teaching people with different disabilities and helping them communicate.
Also, because her daughter, Hineraukatauri, is in her last year of formal schooling and next year will need more programmes that are stimulating and exciting such as the ones that will be offered through the new centre.
"This time in her life has been a time that I've actually been dreading, but I've met so many wonderful people that are really supportive of the idea of music therapy that it's alleviated a lot of my concerns for what I'm going to do.
"I'm confident we'll be able to set up a good service and use it as a template for others around the country."
Since moving to Hawke's Bay, Hineraukatauri has been having more music therapy sessions and musical engagements than she had in Auckland.
She has been having private sessions with a music therapist who was already established in the region and shared sessions at her school.
She has also been working with a music psychologist and has regular jamming sessions with her cousin's partner who is a musician.
"It's been quite magnificent," Mrs Mohi said.
Music therapy helps improve motor skills and speech, self-confidence and self-awareness, as well as social skills, memory, behaviour and concentration.
