Hawke's Bay sisters Megan Dobson and Kelly du Toit bring a unique flair and flavour to the New Zealand version of popular cooking show My Kitchen Rules.
The pair applied after being encouraged by their UK based sister in law, and made it past 5000 other entrants to be part of the fast paced reality series.
They got a call at the end of March and began filming a short while later, but it wasn't easy with Kelly, 32, juggling an 8-month-old baby and a 7-year-old son as well as work and a sideline fashion project.
"I'm crazy! But I have got a really supportive husband, really supportive family ... it was done in dribs and drabs, I might go away for five days at a time, it was pretty hard sometimes with my daughter being so young," she said.
While their cooking philosophy was not always practical it incorporated innovative ideas, organics and whole food, without skimping on taste.
The sisters began a love affair with creative cuisine from an early age, picking up tips from their mother who always pushed boundaries in the kitchen.
"She has always cooked from scratch, using whole food, and bought local - back in the 1980s no one was really experimenting with different cuisines - but mum was always doing exciting things."
Being the centre of attention was not Kelly and Megan's main objective, however they learnt to tackle the attention with ease.
"We were not ones to scramble for the camera - there were certainly people who would push you out of the way - we were comfortable when we did get our turn."
The girls appear in contestant group two, but will be watching as the show launches with group one tomorrow at 7.30pm, TV One.
"I have always been an avid watcher, It's a great show and it's only getting crazier.
"Everyone has their quirks, everyone's got huge personalities which comes out when we're all together, there are some real characters which I hope will come across."
My Kitchen Rules was filmed throughout New Zealand, but the sisters were in the dark as to what the show would look like once it was edited, or who the overall winners will be.
"There were moments where we were relaxed, and moments which were incredibly intense and fast paced - it was fun," Megan, 28, said.
"We will be watching with the rest of the country, we will probably get together at our mum and dad's with our brothers."
Being sisters was a positive for the duo, who worked well together, though their personal cooking styles were varied.
"Everything just flowed, it just happened in a crazy blur. We are both tornadoes, we are both really messy but we have different things that we like to cook."
My Kitchen Rules will air three times a week from 7.30pm on Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday, TV ONE.
