Police are hunting a man who attacked and bit a woman as she walked her dog on a Hastings walkway.
Detective Grant Jarvis said last Tuesday afternoon a middle-aged woman was walking her dog at the Kenilworth Rd end of the walk track that runs alongside the railway line when a young male approached her.
The man grabbed the woman and bit her finger, Mr Jarvis said.
The woman's dog leapt to the defence of its mistress and bit the male on the inside of his leg, drawing blood.
The offender was last seen running on to Kenilworth Rd. He was described as a male, dark-skinned Maori in his early 20s, of a tall, medium build and wearing canvas black shoes.
