Hawke's Bay's Lowe Corporation Rescue Helicopter and Coastguard Hawke's Bay's rescue boat Celia Knowles combine on a simulated rescue (pictured) during the Napier Sailing Club Open Day on Saturday.

On the inner harbour, it was watched keenly by bar and restaurant patrons from West Quay, in addition to those present just for the event.

The simulated rescue came just a few hours after a Coastguard crew went to the rescue of two people on a runabout , which lost its outboard propeller while fishing about 17.5km offshore.

The Celia Knowles towed the stricken boat back to Napier.
