A St John's College leadership programme raising funds for a sick student was a little too enjoyable and has put him back into hospital.
Bradley Woon, 14, has had surgery to remove a brain tumour and is undergoing chemotherapy in Auckland.
His fellow Year 11 St John's College students ran from their Hastings School to St Patrick's in Napier along the limestone pathways last week, raising funds for Ronald McDonald House - and pushing Bradley on his wheelchair - as part of the school's Commit to a Cause leadership programme.
"It was a fantastic day. He was absolutely knackered but he is coming right," mother Sharon said.
"He had a very high temperature and obviously had an infection somewhere. It is part and parcel of what he is going through."
