The Hastings Athletic Club had an extremely successful Colgate Games in Inglewood at the weekend, the most successful in a number of years.
The Colgate Games is sponsored by Cogate/Palmolive and has over 1200 athlete that compete each year. We had a large number of medals and finalsists in the10-14 year age group and several penenants in the 7-9 year age group which has been great.
Emily Young (11yr) made two finals in the girls 10 year sprints both 100m and 200m, huge achievement, Holly Benesman and Kahlan Marshall (11 yr) finalists in the 800m, Holly Benesman (11yr) finalist 1500m, Todd Douglas (12 yr) finalsts in the 400m, 800m and 1500m, Jacob Murphy (10 yr) finalist 400m and semi finalist 100m, Monique Way (12 yr) finalist 800m and 1500m, Ruby Brett (10yr) finalist 400m, 800m and 1500m, Siena Harrison (10) finalist 800m and 1500m, Josie Minor (14) finalist in 100m and 400m. A fantastic result for the club and a great effort by all our athletes.
Briana also received one of four, Nick Willis Colgate scholarship from the NZ childrens Association which is sponsored by Colgte/Palmolive. A big feat as only four are given out each year to over 1200 athletes. She is the first HB athlete to recieve one of these scholarships. Briana will now compete in the South Island Colgate Games this weekend.
