A "flamboyant" range of schools and organisations performing at the annual Baysefika Polyfest proved supremely popular.
Hastings district councillor Henare O'Keefe said the event was "outstanding", with a wide range of schools and organisations celebrating.
"All cultures and ethnicities at their very best - it made Flaxmere even more colourful and flamboyant," he said.
Organisers looked to have easily exceeded last year's attendance of 2000 people. There were no carparks available near Flaxmere Park and "every very blade of grass was sat upon".
He said it was an idyllic setting around the stage. "You couldn't get a better location than Flaxmere Park and the Splash Pad next door. It was beautiful."
