Countless fellow celebrities and fans have taken to Twitter to defend Kim Kardashian West after shock news she was tied up and held at gunpoint in an armed robbery in Paris.
Chrissy Teigen, James Corden and Piers Morgan all spoke out in support of the reality star following news she was locked in the bathroom of the luxury residence by five men reportedly posing as police.
While some trolls suggested the robbery was not newsworthy or suspicious, high-profile friends reminded them she was a mother-of-two and friend, first and foremost.
People making jokes about @KimKardashian tonight would do well to remember that she's a mother,a daughter,a wife,a friend.Be nice or shut up— James Corden (@JKCorden) October 3, 2016
Fame is interesting. Celebs are supposed to love you guys while also knowing you'd make a meme of our dead bodies to get retweets— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) October 3, 2016
Please do not think that I think celebrities are special snowflakes. I just miss empathy, in general, for everyone.— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) October 3, 2016
Fans flooded social media as news of the incident broke, taking aim at those who responded to the terrifying ideal by making jokes.
Just because Kim Kardashian's rich doesn't mean its funny that she got robbed. Would it be funny if it was your sister? or your mother?— Jack Mull (@J4CKMULL) October 3, 2016
Quick note: Kim Kardashian is a person outside of being a wife/sister/mother and that should be enough reason to care.— Akilah Hughes (@AkilahObviously) October 3, 2016
you don't have to like kim kardashian, but making jokes about her getting robbed at gun point is uncalled for— angie (@rightheredinah) October 3, 2016
How on earth are people finding it FUNNY that Kim Kardashian was robbed at gun point? Two young kids could have lost their mom today— Jess (@jxssmitchell) October 3, 2016
But while many took to Twitter to send their sympathies to the reality star, there were those who were more cynical, suggesting the robbery may have been suspicious.
Some even asked whether the 35-year-old had orchestrated the whole incident, sharing their theory that the attack was nothing more than a publicity stunt to "drum up" ratings.
"Another hoax to drum up flagging publicity for these parasitic creatures dumbing down the collective IQ," one user tweeted.
"Man, people are really gullible! #KimKardashian is fake and this is only to promote her fake reality show. #fake #peoplearesheep," another posted.
Wouldn't surprise me if this Kim Kardashian robbery was a hoax just to keep her in the news— Aff it Andi (@andihorne52) October 3, 2016
Why do I get this sick feeling that the whole Kim Kardashian thing is a hoax to detract from an upcoming bad week for Hillary? #wikileaks— OwlWise (@ACollinsByrnes) October 3, 2016
Kardashian West is now safely back in New York City with her husband. The couple pulled up outside their Manhattan residence on Monday with an entourage of about 10 vehicles, 15 bodyguards and members of the NYPD, TMZ reports.
Kim's mother Kris Jenner, along with her boyfriend Corey Gamble, also emerged from one of the vehicles. The reality star's bodyguard Pascal Duvier, who was reportedly not in the apartment when the robbery occurred, was also with them.
Kim's spokeswoman said she was "badly shaken, but unharmed" following the incident.
Kanye West hastily cancelled his New York concert mid-show and rushed off stage citing a "family emergency".
