Houses from The Block NZ's first season have more than doubled in price since they went under the hammer three years ago.
The houses were sold at auction in 2012 for a collective $3,434,000 and have been resold to Auburn Development Ltd for a cool $7,435,000.
The biggest price jump went to 80 Anzac Rd with $1,145,000, seperating its 2012 selling price from it's almost $2 million 2015 re-sale.
But the houses' days are numbered.
In a story that the NZ Herald broke last November it was revealed that the million dollar do-ups would be removed to make way for nearly 100 high-rise apartments. The houses are reportedly set to be taken away from October 1, with onstruction set to begin in December.
The properties at 74, 76, 78 and 80 Anzac St, Takapuna were done up by inaugural Block couples Rachel and Tyson, Sarah and Richard, Ben and Libby and Ginny and Rhys.
Sibling team Libby and Ben Crawford won the season, selling their house for a profit of $157,000 and winning the $80,000 prize money. Dating couple Sarah Adams and Richard Boobyer came second, selling their house for a $64,000 profit, teenage sweethearts Ginny Death and Rhys Wineera sold their house for a profit of $11,000, while engaged couple Rachel Rasch and Tyson Hill sold their house for the reserve price.
The Block team's profits have soared along with the hot Auckland property market. Season 5 Block couples made between $150,000 to $380,000 profit at their auction night on Sunday.
Auburn bought the properties over seven months from individual owners, Fairfax reported. The properties will be developed into the Sargeson Apartments with 92 units. The properties, which range from $395,000 for a 40sq m studio apartment to $825,000 for a 78sq m two-bedroom, two-bathroom penthouse, have all been sold.
Three of the houses would be taken to new sites.
