A note J.J. Abrams wrote to the cast on the first day of shooting the new Star Wars film has appeared online.
Star Wars Episode VII is due for release in December 2015 and has just begun filming in London.
In a hand-written letter to the cast and crew, including actors Oscar Isaac and Adam Driver, Abrams urges them to give fans "something great":
"Dearest cast and crew. What an honour it is to work beside all of you, on Star Wars Ep VII. I can't thank you enough, for all work past and future. Let's take good care of not just ourselves, but of each other. Amazing, but true: the world awaits this film. Let's give 'em something GREAT. xo JJ"
In an interview with nzherald.co.nz earlier this month, Oscar Isaac described the excitement of the first script read-through.
"Just what a joy it is to be there. How exciting it is to see Peter Mayhew [Chewbacca] and Anthony Daniels [C3PO] and Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher - these childhood icons reprising their roles again. And to be in the room and listen to the first time they engage out loud again.
"It's an incredible moment. I was just so enthusiastic and happy I was asked to be in that circle. It was amazing."
