One Direction confirmed they would return to New Zealand in 2013 for a large stadium show during an appearance on breakfast TV in Australia.

The boy band appeared on the Today Show, where band member Liam Payne announced: "We will be coming back with our full arena show to Australia and New Zealand next year... we'll be announcing it all very soon".

They are set to perform three shows in New Zealand next week, tickets for which all sold out in minutes and have been going for outrageous prices on TradeMe.

At the Today Show, a small audience of teenage girls hung on their every word and screamed any time there was a break in the conversation.

Despite the pressure Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson appeared relaxed and happy to be confronted by their Australian fans.

Styles said despite the adulation being showered on them it was easy to keep their feet on the ground.

"We all kind of keep each other grounded and we have a really good team around us and our families are really supportive," he told the show.

After sharing details on who in the band is the best dancer (Styles), who their heroes are (Horan plumped for Michael Buble) and what their favourite dessert is (cookies and cream ice cream) there was time for a hug with one lucky girl before being whisked off to the rival Seven Network to appear on Sunrise before hosting the Kyle and Jackie O radio show.

The band has also been spotted relaxing on a yacht, fishing and stripping off and jumping into Sydney Harbour on their first day in Australia.
