Gardening: The Sustainable City Showcase will be setting up (pop-up) shop at The Cloud on Auckland's waterfront from 17-19 October. Among the 120 exhibitors there will be a strong focus on gardens and fresh produce, appealing to green-thumbed punters.

The Garden to Table Trust, exhibiting at the Showcase, aims to challenge our children's relationship with healthy food. The Trust encourages children across the country to get their hands dirty, learning how to 'grow, harvest, prepare and share' fresh, seasonal food. As participants in the Garden to Table programme, seven to 10 year old children spend time in a veggie garden and home-style kitchen each week, learning lifelong skills and discovering the joy of growing (and cooking) your own produce.

If you love fresh fruit and vegetables, but don't have the space or time to grow your own, Ooooby is a local, artisan food delivery service that brings fruit, veg, eggs, bread and dips direct to your door. The short distance of local food means lower food miles as well as smaller transport, storage and handling costs, meaning Ooooby can pay higher rates to local growers and artisan producers without the customer paying more.

Head to the Ooooby stall to see it for yourself, or drop by the Showcase on Saturday to hear Ooooby founder Pete Russell talking about local food systems at 11.10 a.m.

Got a thirsty garden on your hands? Tanksalot offers the perfect solution for parched summer plots by storing rain water in corrugated-style water tanks that will reduce water consumption and reliance on Council water. They're 100% recyclable, and will fit and accommodate most areas. Check them out at the Showcase.
