Selective but intriguing 18-track 25th anniversary compilation by the British-based indie label.

When it wasn't releasing the otherworldly likes of the Cocteau Twins in the 80s, 4AD was signing up entire Boston-centric family tree bands (Throwing Muses, Pixies Breeders, Belly ) while going goth around the edges (Birthday Party, Bauhaus, Dead Can Dance).

Most of the aforementioned get a song here, as do contemporary signings like Blonde Redhead, The Mountain Goats and TV On The Radio.
